Genius

"Everyone is a genius,
but if you judge a fish
on it's ability
to climb a tree,
it will live its whole life
believing that it is stupid."
~Albert Einstein

Paper Flowers

Not an endangered species here,
and there is no fragrance.
No water required,
no sunlight,
no spritz.
This is a flower for your heart.
Handed with love from Quinn to Tiff.

The Ladies

We don't have any more pets.
So to speak.
These gentle little creatures
that peek in our windows and doors
are looking rather content on this beautiful Spring morning.
And their bellies are full!
Happy Friday!

Spring!

The sun is shining,
the birds are singing their little songs.
The earth is swelling.
The sky is blue.
It's a new season here today.
It's about growth,
rejuvenation,
hope,
and Love.
Enjoy everything that Spring delivers!

The Last Day of Winter

Good Bye, Winter.
It's been a long, cold and snowy one.
It's funny.
So many conversations of how
winter should not be winter.
The cold, the biting winds,
the ice slicked roads,
the snapping of limbs,
the plummeting temperatures,
the delivery of yet another truckload
of  home heating oil,
the roar of snowplows,
the lack of sunshine.
The lack of daylight,
the chapped lips and dry skin,
the frozen rivers,
the frozen people.
The frustration of life frozen.
So tonight, we close winter.
I will miss the snow. But not for long.
I will miss the fireplaces in full bloom. But not for long.
I will miss the winter sunsets. But not for long.
I will embrace a new season tomorrow.
I will be in love.
For a long, long time!

They're Back!

As I mentioned a while ago,
the deer had all disappeared without a trace.
With the snow finally melting,
and the little kiss of Spring in the air,
I'm happy to tell you;
they're back!
They are shy and cautious,
the tip of the cup on the deck railing
seems a bit foreign to them,
but as soon as I turn my back
they rush to the corn.
They seem very hungry, in fine physical condition,
and their eyes are bright and sparkly.
All is good in deer land!
Happy St. Patrick's Day,
and
Happy Birthday, Jake!

My Little BuckI

We feed the deer.
And the birds.
And  now, even the squirrels!
Well, actually, the squirrels sneak the bird seed!
This Winter has been different than the past few.
The deer have completely disappeared.
I'm sad that I don't see any sign of them.
It's been months.
Day to day, not even a footprint.
The deep snow and the frigid temperatures
have driven them away.
Our yard looks empty in the morning and at dusk.
I miss their eyes.
We've spotted a few up in the National Park.
We're hoping there is water and shelter for them.
And, I wonder if they belong to our herd.
Their return will be the herald of Spring.
I look forward to their gaze back into our lives.

Pink

One of nature's sweetest colors,
and one of nature's sweetest scents!
