Goodbye November and Happy Birthday!

As November turns her page
and becomes December,
we are treated to a gift
from Mother Nature tonight.
A "Full Beaver" Moon.
Named by Native Americans
in the eastern and northern US,
each month carries a moon name.
The Full Beaver Moon
was a reminder to set beaver traps now,
before the swamps froze,
to ensure a supply of warm winter furs.
Maybe a great day
to purchase some fanciful UGGS,
or better yet...FRYES!!

We also honor a Birthday today.
Samuel Langhorne Clemens.
His quote reads:
"Everyone is a moon,
and has a dark side
which he never
shows to anybody."
Born in 1835, his pen name
is Mark Twain.
So, I hope you
enjoy the Moon,
and Happy Birthday to Mark Twain.

So yes, she was a birthday gift to me.
I've had her for a few years.
She's from my little Scorpio girl.
One Scorpio to another.
I still remember opening her!
So, this year this Scorpio
opened a new gift.
An exciting new toy!
Except, for right now,
it's far from a toy.
It's a Nikon...
And it's kinda scary.

She's Nanny.
My Dad's Mom.
She sang at my wedding,
but she never held my youngest.
She loved the piano,
and sang her little heart out!
She was the queen of solitaire.
Her hands were always busy.
And she hugged you oh so tight.
She was soft spoken
with a loud love message.
Throughout her 99 years
she kindled the heart of
everyone she met.
Her best friend was Jessie Goldie.

They met in Australia,
they stayed connected,

She's witty and clever.

She likes to bake;
And mix it by hand.

She enjoys grueling workouts
at the gym.
She runs.
Far.
She bikes.
Far.
She digs shoes.
And boots.
Not cowboy boots.
She likes fun tops and flip flops,
and earrings.
She likes to read
and laugh out loud.
And daffodils and tulips.
And Starbucks and lobster.
and the Court of Law.

Reflecting the Good Life...

I had a seisure yesterday morning.
My first.
I hope my last.
So, I've been thinkin'.
I'm lookin' back.
I came to this place
a long time ago.
Sixteen years
to be exact.
I was a newbie.
Adopted.
I'm 100% mutt.
I'm Melody.
It's been a pretty good ride.
Most of the time.
Except.... when I got hit by a car.
Sprayed by skunks.
Lost in the forest.
Shot by a porcupine.
Never was able to catch those
darn bears.
Holy cow, I tried.
Scared the living daylights out o' the folks!
I clipped a few squirrels though.
Many chipmunks too!
I miss my friend Samantha.
And Max.
I miss those awesome soccer games.
I always played defense.
Except when I dribbled!
I miss running.
All those miles.
I can remember the feeling.... "YES"!!!!

...They're taking ME!!
Yeah, I'm old now.
really old.
I'm tired.
But I'm OK,
I'm just holdin' on.

She Did It!

Chelsea normally doesn't wear this kind of jacket!
She's extremely fashionable.
But Sunday's outfit was...
well, it was earned.
Because, what she's wrapped in...
besides the love of her Mom and her sister,
is the NYC marathon warm up!!
Yup, she did it!
All 26 miles through the 5 boroughs
of Manhattan this past Nov. 1st.
She beat her best time.
She beat alot of others too!

I remember 18 years ago.
This kid was born.
Yippee!
Another
November birthday.
November 1st.
All Saint's Day.
And yes, she is..
All saint.
period.
And all brains.
period.
She skipped...
her senior year!
She did it in 3.
Instead of 4.
She works really hard.
period.
And oh yeah,
she's really sweet too!
So very proud.
This kid is Kelsey.
My niece, Kelsey Rae.
