I Love My Harley

I belong to a club.
Ladies only.
Motorcycle club.
Dangerous Curvz, that's us.
Yesterday we all took off
and attended the
Motorcycle Safety Club's
Experienced Rider's Class
at the County College of Morris.
It was an all day safety exercise
in stability, swerving, stopping,
acceleration, curving, weaving,
swerving, stopping, acceleration
and stability.
Over and over and over.
It was exhausting. And invigorating.
We all rode our own bikes in the class.
Unlike the beginner's class where they supply
the bikes. If you want to call them that.
Suzuki 250. No Harley's!
Luckily, the rain held off,
I guess that's because
we were all prepared for thunderstorms!
The morning ride down Route 80 was misty,
a bit foggy, but relatively quiet.
Except for the roar of the Dangerous Curvz!

The Significance of One

It was 33 years ago today
that my brother took his life.
A day that changed me forever.
His death did not make headlines
in People or Time.
It did, however, headline my life book.
I look back all the time and remember
Jimmy.
And his wonderful ways.
And his happy face.
His exuberance.
His hard work.
And his Love for his Family.
And me.
I dream of him. Still, he looks the same.
It's been such a long time.
Yet it seems like only yesterday.
I try to take a lesson,
a message,
anything.
All I get is Sadness.
I miss you, Jim.

A Whirlind of a Week

First it was Boston.
Just Fabulous.
Then up to Maine.
Beautiful and Engaging.
Last night,... New York City!
Times Square on a beautiful
Friday evening... it's absolutely Magical!

It's been a fabulous week

with all of the people that I love the most.

Juris Doctorate

I've been away for a little while.
My daughter received an award last Friday.
A most impressive 'Juris Doctorate';
Her law degree from New England Law, Boston.

I was hanging around the Wang Theatre.
Surrounded by the friends and families
and professors of 309 graduate students of NESL.

My heart and my eyes were swollen
with pride and happiness.
And joy.

I had shivers
as soon as I caught a glimpse
of her in her cap and gown,
a complimentary honors cord,
(Cum Laude)
her signature smile,
and that sparkle in her eyes!


So, now her life Journey continues.
She's in a far away place,
But forever close in our hearts.

Congratulations once again, Tiff!
You took the dare. You won.

The Journey

From Flowers to Floods

After all of the bragging that I've done about the beautiful weather and the abundance of blossoms, we're now in for a week of drenching rain! It reminds me of the days when my children were infants, and I'd brag that they were never sick, next thing I knew, I was in the pediatrician's office paying double the fee for a Sunday visit! UGH.
On a brighter note, the wild poppies are in bloom now, and I'm hoping to take some photos before their tissue-like petals are saturated and gone. Their vibrant colors make such a splashing presence amongst the new Kelly green backdrop. I am particularly smitten with the wild red. So, in my travels, I'm on a Poppy mission today!
Just one more thing...the Earth will be celebrating a full moon tonight..enjoy the month of May's "Flower Moon". Perfect!
Maybe where you live there will be a cloudless night sky!

As Promised

After what seems was the longest and coldest Winter on record in my mind,
Spring has greeted the Northeast with an abundant display of beauty!
The flowering trees are spectacular.
From the Magnolias and the Red Buds to the Kwanzans and Weeping Cherries, to the Lilacs,the Apple Blossoms and now the Wisteria, Mother Earth has come alive in a rainbow of pinks and lavenders.
The Wisteria blossoms are prolific this year and they peak out from the most obscure and hidden little peek-a-boo locations with a burst of color and perfume. Their delicate displays stop me in my tracks!
