Just thinking.

I once dreamt of completing a marathon.

But reality knocked on my door.

26 miles?

I don't think so.

So today,

as I read the news,

see the photos,

and imagine the horror,

I post a photo of pink.

The color is calm,

is Love.

but best of all,
she brings us

The Rides Are Open!

So, I mentioned a few days ago that we took a little jaunt to the shore.

The Jersey Shore.

The land of Hurricane Sandy and her evil take on wind.

And sand.

And water.

Isn't it ironic that the little beach towns

are still overladen with sand

from Hurricane Sandy?

Who chose her name, anyway?

Did they have ESP?

I mean, really!

So, yes.

We've been to the shore quite a bit lately.

There's Mom.

There was  the Beer on the Boards Festival.
The Windswept Hotel.

There's Mom.

There's Easter.

There's Mom.

I'm so happy that Mom is growing strong.
We've shared some great moments together!

We've toured the Oceanside towns
block by block and town by town.

I'm happy to report that the rides

in Seaside Heights,

the roller coaster, to be exact,

is up and running.

Sitting Gull

 We took a little jaunt to the beach.

Last weekend.

This seagull was unusually calm.

He let me get very close.
With my camera.

I was surprised.

I wondered why.

Then he stood up.

And he showed me why.

It's Spring!

Spring is always a surprise to me.

It never seems possible that this is the same yard

that was knee-deep in snow and armored in ice.

Suddenly it is starred with daffodils, as if

someone had cut the sun up in pieces and

scattered them everywhere. And when the trees

turn from etchings into watercolors, that is amazing, too.

The misty greens and warm shiny pink buds and the swelling varnished tips on the lilacs. Everything is like a dream.

Oscar Under Wraps

 

 

I am so not a movie critic.

I've seen 4 Oscar nominees recently.
Argo,

Silver Linings Playbook,
The Impossible,

and today, I took in Amour.

Amour = Love =Sad.

Emmanuelle Riva is my pick for best actress.
She was phenomenal.
I look forward to Oscar night,
as it seems to be the fore bearer of Spring!
Followed this year by a full, milky, Snow Moon,
the temperatures this week promise a slight uprise,
 the sun might hang around a little longer,
the ice may finally start melting,
and, maybe, just maybe,,
I'll get to crack open a window!
The simple joys of life.

My Fat Cardinal

I had a flurry of cardinal activity yesterday before heading to the office. 2 male cardinals were exhausting a lone female. I was able to catch a few photos of the less aggressive of the 2.

It's a view from inside the window, so the pictures are far from perfect, but the excitement was

beyond belief. Rarely do I get the chance to photograph a cardinal, they always seem so timid and shy. This little guy was such a beauty!

Love

For as long as I can remember,

Budding

The days are getting longer,

the buds are getting fatter,
the little spring birds are chirping
in spite of the cold, Winter winds.
We must be patient
however;

Spring is 33 days away!

Fat Tuesday & Love Beads

It's been a long 6 or 7 weeks.

Long, cold days

And dark, cold nights.

But, today is all about sunshine and warmth.

And Love.

My Mom returns to the warmth of her own home!

What we all thought would be a 3 or 4 day visit

turned itself into 6 weeks.

There was very little excitement in those weeks.

Except, for the beads, and the Love.

So, Happy Fat Tuesday, 

And, Welcome Home, Mom!
