An Old Egg & Hyacinths
Here's an Easter treasure of mine.
This little egg was hand drawn and painted
and given as a gift to my little girl in 1984.
It was from a patient that my Mother In Law cared for.
It's a bit faded from time but still so precious.
It's a real hollowed out egg, and the
reverse side is drawn with happy daffodils.
"Happy Easter" is hand scribed on the edges.
It reminds me of the days when the kids were little.
The Easter Bunny was filling their baskets.
The new spring wardrobes were chosen with the
anticipation of warm sunny days.
Egg hunts were a given.
Easter has always been a favorite of ours.
I hope as today whirls into April
your day is full of beautiful memories!

A Present!
Here's a collage
of what was waiting
for me
when I got home
yesterday!
Flowers...
because...
I've completed
my Broker's Class!
But, there's no bubbly yet..
The State Test is
waiting next in line.
I hear it's a killer.
Then, maybe someday
I'll go back,
and
take a photography class,
or
creative writing,
or
poetry,
or
sewing,
or
maybe culinary arts,
or
baking
but
for sure
it will not
be
Math!
Have a peaceful day
and
enjoy my flowers
right along
with me!

A Birthday Party of the Mind
Lawrence Ferlinghetti,
born in Yonkers, NY,
poet, pacifist, teacher, business man
marks his 90th Birthday today.
In 1953 he co-founded
City Lights Bookstore
in San Fransisco.
It was the 1st soft cover
bookstore in the US.
While most of his
notorious compatriots
have come and gone,
he has weathered the
changing times and tides.
He continues to paint, exhibit
and sell his artwork today.
"It seemed to me
all you have to do
is conceive
of the whole world
and all humanity
as a kind of artwork."
From 'Instructions to Painters and Poets'
Hope we all live happily ever after! xo

Redbreast
The Redbreast,
sacred to the household gods,
wisely regarded of
the embroiling sky,
In joyous fields
and thorny thickets
leaves
his shivering mates,
and pays to trusted man
his annual visit.

My Neighbors & Farm Aid
These dogs
live
around the corner.
They are
my neighbors.
Look at their eyes.
One is praying.
The other
is hopeful.
The barn
is their home.
They need farm aid.
Seasons
Ten thousand
flowers in spring
the moon in autumn,
a cool breeze
in summer,
snow in winter.
If your mind
isn't clouded
by unnecessary things,
it is the best
season of your life.

Millbrook on a Misty Morning
Today is all grey...
and yet, it's
Albert Einstein's Birthday.
Misty & cool with melting snow.
A sense of quiet
blows
in the air
after the storm.
Daylight savings.
Today.
Swollen rivers.
More and more sunshine
if she should ever return.

The Little Prince
Grown-ups love numbers. When you tell them that you have made a new friend, they never ask you any questions about essential matters. They never say to you, "What does his voice sound like? What games does he love best? Does he collect butterflies?" Instead, they demand: "How old is he? How many brothers has he? How much does he weigh? How much money does his father make?" Only then do they think they have learned anything about him.
~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
The Little Prince, 1943,

Waiting....
For the spring
birds
to return
home.
Once again.
And one
will
lay her eggs,
and
sit
and wait,
protective
and patient.
And then,
she will teach
her flock
to fly.
Free without her.
Hurry up, Spring!
