Steady As She Goes

Some of you know
that I ride a motorcycle.
A Harley Davidson, Sportster.
I belong to a small ladie's
riding club.
And,
That lady in the middle...
so does she.
She's a "Merry Motor Maid".
84 years strong,
and still riding along
on her '04 Heritage Softail.

She spoke at our "Garage Party"
this past Friday night.
Shared her stories of
more than 70 years of motorcycles.
She started riding at 16.
She's had 11 Harleys!
Her favorite rides have been in Europe.
4,000 miles in 8 countries.
Long, winding roads; without a car in sight.
She referred to them as "Heaven".

She announced to us
that she's being inducted
into the "Harley Davidson
Hall of Fame".
Now, she's off to South Carolina,
then Alabama,touring the South for a while,
but she's looking forward
to her next "cross country" ride with her club
which will be to Sturgis!
And,...she'll be 91!
Keep an eye out for her!

Someday soon this frozen tundra
will be warm and sunny with
thunderous motorcycles
passing through.
And I will be as happy
as a clam.
